Isolation,
Limitation,
Concentration,
Uniqueness.

The island—a contained space, a place of longing, a unique ecosystem both isolated and connected to the world by water and air.

I would like to explore two defining characteristics of the island: the limited amount of resources and its distinctive plant life. By investigating the history of Failaka through archaeobotanical studies, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the native flora. With this knowledge, I will collect and incorporate local materials into my work.

"Ruled by Resources," focuses on using materials naturally present on the island. This aligns with the need to rethink our relationship with the environment - not only by consuming less, but also by using materials that can easily return to nature's cycle.
